A deep dive into the earths hidden worlds.
Inspired by Polarized Micrographs (geological thin sections) of Tasmanian & Antarctic granite, which weathers to clay/soil; Geo-Microcosms articulates the hidden mineral crystals which are the source of our diverse vegetation and landscape character.
The microscopic light refracting though the crystals, amplifies the origins of our landscapes as an 'other worldly' microcosm of our familiar landscapes.
It is simultaneously both micro and macro, with large landscapes to be seen within the micro detail, creating a surreal abstraction and distillation of place as a form of Geo Truthing.
NOTE
This page is under construction in preparation for the Geo Microcosm exhibition at MAC (Moonah Arts Centre) in October 2025. The work shown here is a selection of the work to be exhibited.
All of the work has been created with interactive metallic paint on plywood art panels (ranging from 1M sq to 30cm sq), except for the final work which is oil on canvas (1.2 x 1.2M).
